Morgana Wild Rift Build Recommendation

Here are Item Build Recommendations that works on this champion and which are the best build for Morgana Wild Rift in this patch.

The Fallen

Black Mist Scythe Luden’s Echo Stasis Enchant Awakened Soulstealer Rabadon’s Deathcap Void Staff [This item has been removed from WR]

This is the standard support Morgana Wild Rift build which focuses on her offensive capabilities while balancing its burst damage and DPS factors.

  • Spectral Sickle is a must for supports if you’re planning to use her in the bottom lane along with the ADC. It grants gold provided you are able to poke the opponents with your abilities.
  • Luden’s Echo amplifies the already high AP ratio of Morgana’s 1st ability, Dark Binding. It is also a great addition when trying to both siege or defend as it can easily be proc’d using her 2nd ability, Tormented Shadows.
  • Boots of Mana provides more firepower if a players wants Morgana to be a mage caster champion, because of the Ability power, Magic Penetration, and Mana Restoration that it provides.
  • Ionian Boots of Lucidity increases the rate you can spam your abilities and summoner spells. Upgrade with the Stasis Enchant to protect yourself while using Soul Shackles.
  • Awakened Soulstealer grants ultimate haste for every unique takedown. Upon reaching three or more stacks, you will be able to spam Morgana’s ultimate, Soul Shackles every team fight. Due to the shortened cooldown, you don’t have to think twice about using it on even just one enemy.
  • Rabadon’s Deathcap grants the highest AP bonus among all items. With this item, both your damage and shielding output will spike.
  • Void Staff will allow you to punish even those who stack magic resist against you with its high amount of magic penetration.

Dark Fire Celestial

Luden’s Echo Liandry’s Torment Stasis Enchant Crystalline Reflector Infinity Orb Rabadon’s Deathcap

This alternative Morgana Wild Rift build reduces the damage output of Morgana in exchange for more utility and survivability. This is best for Jungle Morgana.

Runes for Morgana in Wild Rift

  • Both Glacial Augment and Aery are good for Morgana. Glacial Augment slows enemies whenever she hits a champion, giving her more time to chain her skillshots while poking, while Aery is better for pokes or for a more defensive playstyle. Plus, it adds value to Morgana’s 3rd ability, Black Shield.
  • Brutal is great for early game pokes and for playing as a jungler.
  • Adaptive Carapace adds flat bonus HP and adaptive resistance when low on health.
  • Pathfinder allows you to roam faster, akin to having the cloud drake bonus but if your playstyle is more passive, Manaflow Band is perfect for babysitting the ADC in lane.

Spells

These two are the best spells you can equip for Morgana Wild Rift.

Ignite is pretty effective and not to mention fun to play on Morgana. A good early game 1st ability, Dark Binding + Ignite can easily secure a first blood but if your ADC insist running Barrier, you may consider running Heal instead.

Flash is too invaluable not to use especially since Morgana is an immobile caster.

Morgana’s 1st ability, Dark Binding is maxed first as its increased root duration is devastating at punishing careless enemies and it has an incredible value at chaining disables. The 3rd ability, Black Shield is put at level 2 in the early game so that it will not immediately pop because of just one ability, and then her 2nd ability, Tormented Shadow is maxed in the mid-game to maximize Morgana’s damage potential. Put a point in Morgana’s ultimate, Soul Shackles whenever possible.

Abilities

Infernal Chains

Morgana drains spirit from her enemies, healing as she deals damage to champions, large minions, and medium and larger jungler monsters.

Infernal Chains

Morgana binds an enemy in place with dark magic, forcing them to feel the pain they’ve caused and dealing magic damage.

Infernal Chains

Morgana casts a cursed shadow on an area, damaging enemies who dare stand in her dark circle. They receive magic damage over time, which increases the lower health they are.

Infernal Chains

Morgana anoints an ally with a protective barrier of starfire, which absorbs magical damage and disabling effects until it is broken.

Infernal Chains

Morgana unleashes the full force of her Celestial power as she unbinds her wings and hovers above the ground. She lashes chains of dark pain onto nearby enemy champions, gaining Move Speed towards them. The chains slow and deal initial damage and, after a delay, stun those who are unable to break them

Abilities Analysis

Innate Passive: Soul Siphon

Morgana’s passive allows her to heal off of the damage dealt by her abilities against champions, large minions, and large monsters.

It is not exactly magical vamp because it does not work on all kinds of enemies and it is not exactly game-breaking that the enemy has to rush grievous wounds against Morgana. Although, it definitely heals a lot on mid to late fights where enemies are grouped up and are affected by both Morgana’s 2nd ability, Tormented Shadow, and ultimate, Soul Shackles at the same time.

Q | 1st Ability: Dark Binding

Dark Binding is a slow-moving skill shot that deals magic damage and roots the first enemy hit for a relatively long duration. At max level, it roots for 2.75 seconds.

Dark Binding can be hard to hit because it is a slow-moving projectile that only affects the first enemy hit. Because of that, an enemy simply has to hide behind minions in order to avoid the ability.

To increase your chances of hitting an enemy, use it under brushes or if you are ahead, you may pressure the enemy by walking up to them while applying Morgana’s 3rd ability, Black Shield on herself to nullify any counterattacks.

Practice holding off using Dark Binding for random skill-shots as every time you miss, it gives the enemy team a time window to play more aggressively, knowing that your crowd control ability is on cooldown.

Dark Binding can be Flash-buffered, allowing for surprising long-range initiations. It is wise to try the Flash-Dark Binding combo on the practice mode before using it on an actual match as it has a pretty tiny window of error.

W | 2nd Ability: Tormented Shadow

Tormented Shadow is an area damage per second ability that deals increased damage on low HP targets.

It deals surprising amounts of damage to enemies who do not respect it.

Tormented Shadow deals 150% damage against monsters. Always use it when your team or even if the enemy team is taking an Epic monsterDrakes, Rift Heralds, or Baron Nashor. If the jungler fails to take down the Epic monster using Smite, there is a high chance that the damage tick of this ability will be the killing blow as it ticks every 0.5 seconds.

As it deals increased damage to monsters, Morgana is actually a viable jungler. By taking the Red buff leashed then killing the Blue buff and Gromp at the same time, Morgana clears 3 camps with 5 seconds to spare before the river scuttlers spawn.

Always use Tormented Shadow in conjunction with Morgana’s other abilities and with your ally’s crowd controls to maximize its damage output.

In the laning phase, you can use it to harass enemies and to easily stack Manaflow Band. But be careful not to use it too much as it will easily shove the wave into the enemy turret, putting you and your ADC in a dangerous position.

E | 3rd Ability: Black Shield

Black Shield is what makes Morgana one of the best support in the game. It applies a magic damage shield and as long as the shield is active, it blocks all forms of crowd control.

Black Shield virtually makes it wielder unstoppable just like Olaf is when his ultimate is active.

You may use Black Shield to protect Morgana while attempting to use her other abilities. But more often than not, it is better to reserve this ability to protect your carry against disables and magic damage.

Black Shield has almost no casting delay. Because of this, you will be able to thwart most initiation just by being attentive and responsive on the battlefield.

R | Ultimate: Soul Shackles

Soul Shackles chain nearby enemy champions dealing magic damage based on their max HP then slows and reveals them for three seconds. After three seconds, chained targets are stunned and dealt magic damage again.

soul Shackles may only be activated when near an enemy champion and the chains will only persist if Morgana and the affected enemies are within a certain range together.

Soul Shackles is a strong team fighting ability, dealing a lot of damage regardless if the enemy is an ADC or a tank because its damage is based on max HP.

Although Soul Shackles is a strong ultimate, it has a glaring drawback which is forcing Morgana to be in the middle of the team fight. And because Morgana is pretty much like any other enchanter supports, she will die quickly if focused on.

The obvious solution to this is to build the Stasis Enchant to protect Morgana while Soul Shackles is channeling. The chains is still intact while the Stasis is active but Morgana will be stationary, allowing the enemy the option to just simply walk away.

You have to wait for the last possible second before activating the Stasis Enchant to increase your chances of stunning the enemy. If you activate the Stasis way too early, affected enemies will easily escape the chains. But of course, activating it way too late will most likely result in your death.

Morgana Early Game Guide

A good Morgana player can dictate the pace of the lane in most matchups. You may play the lane aggressively and you can also easily stall the lane into the later stages of the game.

Pressure enemies by hovering enemies through a diagonal angle or under brushes but do not spam Morgana’s 1st ability, Dark Binding.

The first few casts of Dark Binding will determine if the enemy will respect you or easily read you.

If you miss your Dark Binding skill-shots, enemies will most likely try to play aggressively.

If they do, be ready with Morgana’s 3rd ability, Black Shield to protect yourself or your ADC against crowd control and magic damage.

Morgana Late Game Guide

In the late game, look for opportunities to use Morgana’s ultimate, Soul Shackles to initiate team fights.

If you have an initiator ally, it will be much better to follow up on their initiation so you will have a higher chance of surviving and landing the second phase of Soul Shackles.

If your allies land a crowd control, use Dark Binding to extend the disable and always use her 2nd ability, Tormented Shadow on controlled enemies to deal more damage to them.

Always keep an eye on your allies as Black Shield will be able to save allies and allow them to pull off clutch plays because of it.

Synergies

It is highly recommended using Morgana Wild Rift with the following champions as they synergize well with her.

Morgana’s 1st ability, Dark Binding and Caitlyn’s 2nd ability, Yodle Snap Trap is almost always a sure kill because of the sheer length of the control plus the damage output these two can produce together. Their duo is also a pretty safe combination against almost all types of enemies. Jinx functions in almost the same way.

Draven needs to be able to go where he wants to continuously catch his axes for his buff resets. With the help of Morgana’s 3rd ability, Black Shield, he becomes an unstoppable force all game long.

All Morgana Wild Rift Counter Champions

In this section, we’ll tackle some of Morgana Wild Rift Counters.

Morgana’s lane pressure isn’t suited against a long-ranged scaling ADC/support like SennaIt will most likely be a stale lane and in the late game, Morgana won’t be able to reach Senna and be a threat anymore. Play passively while waiting for a ganking opportunity if Senna and her lane partner overextend their wave.

It will be hard to dictate the pace of the lane against Tristana as you will have no tool against her if you miss your 1st ability, Dark Binding. Again, play passively and wait for Tristana to get impatient with her engage then punish her.

Brand can easily destroy your shield due to his high amount of AP damage and it is almost impossible to pin down a good brand player because he has the range to play safely. Wait for his ultimate before trying to all-in as it will be devastating for your team if you commit at the same time.

Skill Matchups

Blitzcrank has two crowd control and one spammable burst damage ultimate. A good Blitzcrank player will bait your shield first and in the late game, use its ultimate in order to quickly remove the shield. You have to play reactively with his combos to shut him down.

A Nami Vs. Morgana matchup is a battle of who uses their skill-shots better. But luckily for you, you have your shield but you have to wait for her to use her ultimate first because it will prevent your teammates from following up on your initiations.

Easy Matchups

Leona is all about crowd control and a single ability of Morgana counters three of hers. Just time your shield on her engages and you will be fine.

Braum will melt if he tries to stay on your Tormented Shadows trying to mark your allies. If your carry is marked, simply use your Black Shield to avoid the stun.

Pros & Cons About Morgana

Here are some pros and cons if you are playing with Morgana in Wild Rift.

Pros

  • Morgana has one of the longest ranged, longest duration crowd control in her 1st ability, Dark Bind. Furthermore, her ultimate, Soul Shackle can potentially stun all five enemies and deal more than 40% of their health in magic damage.
  • She has one of the strongest support ability in Black Shield which turns any ally invincible against crowd control.

Cons

  • Morgana is skill-shot reliant. If you cannot land her 1st ability, Dark Bind, you lose over half of her potential offensive pressure.
  • She requires a lot of game sense because her ultimate and shield requires a good deal of situational awareness.

FAQ's About Morgana in Wild Rift

How good is Morgana in Wild Rift?

Morgana is a (Tier A) champion. Morgana is one of the most reliable support picks because of her ability to dictate the pace of the early game. She is capable of playing aggressively and stalling the lane. Her damage output is second to none and her shield, which makes her or her ally invincible against crowd control, is very invaluable.

What role / lane should I play with Morgana in Wild Rift?

Morgana is traditionally played as a support in the dragon lane as an enchanter mage who can control enemies and shield allies. She can also be played in the jungle and in the middle lane.

What abilities do I level up with Morgana?

Morgana’s 1st ability, Dark Binding is maxed first as its increased root duration is devastating at punishing careless enemies and it has an incredible value at chaining disables. The 3rd ability, Black Shield is put at level 2 in the early game so that it will not immediately pop because of just one ability, and then her 2nd ability, Tormented Shadow is maxed in the mid-game to maximize Morgana’s damage potential.

What items should I build with Morgana?

Morgana’s core items are Luden’s Echo, Liandry’s Torment, and Awakened Soulstealer. Luden’s Echo is great for burst damage pokes, Liandry’s Torment adds a lot of DPS, especially against tanks, and Awakened Soulstealer allows Morgana to spam her ultimate. Buy Stasis Enchant in most games to execute her ultimate safely.

What Runes should I use when playing as Morgana?

Both Electrocute and Aery are good for Morgana. Electrocute fits the Luden’s Echo build because of its explosive bonus damage while Aery is better for pokes or for a more defensive playstyle. Plus, it adds value to Morgana’s 3rd ability, Black Shield. Her other runes are Brutal, Adaptive Carapace, and Pathfinder or Manaflow Band .

How can I pull off Morgana's ultimate, Soul Shackles properly?

Soul Shackles requires Morgana to stay close to enemies. Because of this, it can be hard to deal the full effects of Soul Shackle. To counteract this, use Stasis Enchant to make Morgana invulnerable. But wait for the very last moment to activate Stasis Enchant so enemies won’t be able to escape.
