Swain Wild Rift Build Recommendation

Here are Item Build Recommendations that works on this champion and which are the best build for Swain Wild Rift in this patch.

The Mage General

Luden’s Echo Rabadon’s Deathcap Stasis Enchant Rylai’s Crystal Scepter Riftmaker Void Staff [This item has been removed from WR]

This Swain Wild Rift build is great for poking mages and will certainly help him in running down his opponents with Death’s Hand (Q) and Vision of Empire. However, this build has less defensive stats which makes it easy for opponents to kill Swain despite his ultimate especially with Grievous Wounds. However, Stasis Enchant solves this problem as this active item can be used during Demonic Ascension, allowing him to deal damage and heal from it while being untargetable.

Noxian General

Rod of Ages Liandry’s Torment Stasis Enchant Riftmaker Rabadon’s Deathcap Rylai’s Crystal Scepter

This is an alternative Swain Wild Rift build that you can have for the Noxian General.

  • Rod of Ages – Stats grow over time
  • Liandry’s Torment – Abilities deal bonus damage

Runes for Swain in Wild Rift

Conqueror gives additional AP to Swain upon receiving stacks of Conqueror, and at max stacks, he’ll receive bonus Omnivamp. For Swain, stacking up conqueror is an easy task especially in extended fights. On the other hand, you may also opt for Phase Rush that allows you gain bonus movement speed and ability haste upon hitting attacks.

Scorch – Deal bonus damage to champions on ability hit.

Gathering Storm -Every 3 minutes, gain AD or AP.

Nullifying Orb – Gain a shield when damaged by a champion while low health.

Bone Plating – When taking damage from a champion, the current and next 3 champion abilities or attacks against you deal reduced damage.

Sweet Tooth – Increases honeyfruit healing effect, each fruit also provides bonus gold.

Hunter-Genius – Unique champion takedowns grant Ability Haste.

Spells

In our Swain Wild Rift Guide, here are the best champion spells that you can equip on him.

Wild Rift Flash

Swain’s kit is composed of damage-dealing and crowd control abilities but lacks mobility. This makes him vulnerable to ganks and enemies who are trying to eliminate him. Hence, just like any other champions, Flash is an ideal spell for him as it allows him to escape, blink into his opponents or make some flashy plays.

Swain is able to dish out continuous damage and that is thanks to his set of abilities. This enables him to dominate midlane and as a support as well. On top of these abilities, Swain can pick Ignite to finish off his opponents. At the same time, he and his team can benefit from the Grievous Wounds effect that decreases incoming healing.

Starting off with E > W > Q is the ideal skill upgrade order in most matchups. This allows you to bully your opponents in the early, followed by the rest of his abilities. However, it’s best to max Death’s Hand (Q) first as it is his main source of damage and will greatly increase his overall damage in the long run. Next, max Vision of Empire (W) to increase the damage it will deal and the slow duration. As for the ultimate, upgrade it as soon as it is available at level 5, 9 and 13.

Abilities

Infernal Chains

Swain’s ravens collect Soul Fragments that heal him and permanently increase his maximum health.

Infernal Chains

Swain unleashes several bolts of eldritch power that pierce through enemies. Enemies hit take more damage for each bolt they are struck by.

Infernal Chains

Swain unleashes several bolts of eldritch power that pierce through enemies. Enemies hit take more damage for each bolt they are struck by.

Infernal Chains

Swain launches a wave of demonic power forward. It then returns to Swain and roots enemies it hits. Swain can then choose to pull all rooted champions closer. This ability has a shorter cooldown during Demonic Ascension.

Infernal Chains

Swain transforms into a demon and drains health from nearby enemy champions, minions, and neutral monsters. Swain can cast Demonflare to decimate and slow nearby enemies with a nova of soulfire. This form is indefinite as long as Swain drains enemy champions.

Abilities Analysis

Passive | Ravenous Flock

When an enemy champion die, they will leave a soul fragment that Swain can collect with his ravens. This also goes for his Vision of Empire and Nevermove.

Each Soul Fragment stack gives bonus health and heals him based on his maximum health.

Q | Death’s Hand

Swain releases five bolts of eldritch power in a shape of the cope towards the target direction to deal magic damage.

W | Vision of Empire

Swain summons an eye at a target location which then reveals the area and champions. After a delay, it explodes and deals magic damage. When champions get hit, a Soul Fragment will be taken from them.

Wild Rift Swain Vision of Empire

Compared to its PC counterpart, Vision of Empire’s range is smaller but when used against targets that are immobilized, the damage is increased by 50% which makes the combination of E-W a lot more interesting.

E | Nevermove

Swain launches forward a demonic wave dealing magic damage to enemies hit. Nevermove roots and reveals them for a duration and can be recast.

Wild Rift Swain Nevermove

After recasting, Swain will pull the enemy champion towards him and collect a soul fragment from them.

R | Demonic Ascension

Swain unleashes the demon within and gains Demonic Ascension. During this time, Swain is ghosted and can drain the lifeforce of nearby enemies. This allows him todeal magic damage and heal himself from it depending on the number of targets hit.

Wild Rift Demonic Ascension

After 2 seconds or at the end of Demonic Ascension, Swain can recast his ultiamte to activate Demonflare. Demonflare enables Swain to release a nova of soulfire dealing magic damage to nearby enemies and slows them.

Swain Early Game Guide

Swain’s early game heavily depends on his ability to land his third and second ability to bully his opponents. However, it is not usually spammable due to the mana cost.

Post-level 5, always try to partake in teamfights as your ultimate is important in skirmishes along with the rest of your abilities.

Swain Late Game Guide

Swain’s strength is highlighted in every teamfight due to his Demonic Ascension (R) and Nevermove (E). Although Swain can heal off of his ultimate, he’ll still require some defensive items to be able to survive in the middle of the teamfights.

This makes Stasis Enchant a must-have enchantment for him. During clashes, Swain can use Stasis while using his ultimate. This allows him to become untargetable, while being able to damage and heal.

Synergies

For our Swain Wild Rift Guide, we highly recommend using him with the following champions as they synergize well with him.

Kennen‘s ultimate, Slicing Maelstrom is a massive threat during teamfights because of its large range and the damage that it can deal. Much more if the enemies are stunned. Along with Swain’s ultimate, Demonic Ascension, these two along with their allies can dominate the teamfight with ease.

Swain can be deployed as a support thanks to his ability to deal damage from a safe distance and his crowd control. This kind of support is what Jhin exactly needs to win the lane. The Virtuoso can benefit from Swain’s ranged attack to be able to immobilize targets with Deadly Flourish. What makes it a lot better is that both of these two can perma-root enemies as they combine Deadly Flourish and Nevermove.

All Swain Wild Rift Counter Champions

In this section, we’ll specifically show champions that can easily counter Swain in Wild Rift aside from Grievous Wounds. For Swain, these are mobile champions who can easily dodge Nevermove (E), eliminate him and move out of his range.

Wild Rift Fizz

While Swain can outrange Fizz, he is one of the hardest matchups for Swain. He can deal an insane amount of damage, can dodge all of his abilities especially Nevermove which is the bread and butter and can roam faster than Swain.

Same reason with Fizz, Katarina is an extremely mobile champion who can just dodge his abilities, go in and out of his range and can just basically run him down. She also deals a lot of damage in the early phase of game unlike Swain.
