Fighter Champions
Fighters consist of melee and short-ranged warriors who shine best at initiating teamfights along with tanks and being able to survive from it. They may have limited range which puts them at disadvantage when fighting mages and marksmen, they can however excel at zoning and taking down opponents upon closing the gap between them.
Mage Champions
Mages are champions who steadily rely on the chain of a wide range of their abilities to land an area of effect damage and crowd controls. These champions take all of their damage from their ability power with the aid of mana to deal burst or continuous damage from a safe distance. But despite possessing the capability of eliminating enemies with a single blow or two, they have their weaknesses. Most mages are known to be squishy, and can become a potential target of bruisers and assassins.
Marksman Champions
Similar to mages, marksmen have the advantage of being able to attack from a long distance. Their source of strength mainly stems from a combination of auto attacks and unique abilities to deal constant damage to enemies. Marksmen are often positioned at the bottom lane under the protection of their support as they are more vulnerable to damage due to their fragility.
Assassin Champions
Assassins are known for their mobility and single-target burst damage that grants them the ability to put an end to an opponent's life in a short period and immediately get away from it. These champions put most of their attention on squishy champions, waiting for the right opportunity to unleash a chain of combo during their times of vulnerability.
Tank Champions
Tanks are a class of melee champions with a high amount of armor, health and damage resistance that prevent them from dying instantly. Prioritizing sustainability over damage, a tank’s primary role is to take damage in exchange for the safety of their carry. Some are also equipped with peeling and crowd control abilities that might come in handy in removing threats to their allies. Unlike marksmen and mages they are less likely to become vulnerable to assassins.
Support Champions
Behind a well-fed carry is a good support that assists their allies through their healing, shielding, peeling and crowd control abilities. Compared to the rest of the champions, supports aren’t designed to take farms and they rather obtain resources from takedowns and objectives. Supports can be classified into three categories: tank, utility and poke supports.
