Volibear Wild Rift Build Recommendation
Here are Item Build Recommendations that works on this champion and which are the best build for Volibear Wild Rift in this patch.
Brawler Bear
This item build for Volibear Wild Rift consists of standard Defence items such as Health, Magic Resist, Armor, and Tenacity. This build allows Volibear to be as tanky as he can to be the frontline in any team fight.
The Immortal Bear
Volibear’s skills consist of physical and magical damage, making him a hybrid champion, making this Volibear Wild Rift build very beneficial for him. Riftmaker’s omnivamp enables him to have a lot of sustain while also dealing a lot of damage. Having the Iceborn Gauntlet and Dead Man’s Plate will help in closing the gap between the enemies and Volibear. Spirit Visage’s increase healing and Amaranth Twinguard’s defence stats also synergize with Riftmaker’s sustain to make him last through the entire fight, making Volibear the Immortal Bear.
Runes for Volibear in Wild Rift
Grasp of the Undying further increases his sustainability within team fights, allowing him to engage and initiate team fights without fear. Alternatively, Conqueror also gives healing, but its damage potential would be much higher than that of the Grasp of the Undying.
Triumph heals Volibear after eliminating an enemy, giving him more survivability in team fights.
Hunter – Titan gives him more health, while Second Wind enables him to engage again after fighting.
Lastly, Demolish gives Volibear the option to be a good split pusher because of the damage it deals to the enemy tower. Packfinder, on the other hand, gives Volibear movement speed to stay close to an enemy or initiate a team figh
Spells
In our Volibear Wild Rift Guide, here are his best champion spells that you can equip on him.
Having Flash is essential for champions, regardless of whether they have any kind of mobility or not. It helps Volibear to close the gap and go for the stun with his Thundering Smash catching the enemy off-guard.
Ignite is a viable option for Volibear because it gives grievous wounds to an enemy, making Volibear out-sustain them. Additionally, it helps finish off enemies that are evasive.
Skill Order
Volibear in Wild Rift can start by taking Sky Splitter first to poke down enemies while having an advantage when trading in lanes with its shield. Volibear can then take Frenzied Maul as a second ability for more damage and sustain, and Thundering Smash as the third one for crowd control. After prioritizing Stormbringer, Volibear should maximize Frenzied Maul should he have a chance as the Stormbringer is the highest priority. Frenzied Maul is very beneficial for Volibear as it is the ability that heals and sustains him whenever he is in a duel.
Abilities
Volibear’s Attacks and abilities grant Attack Speed, and eventually cause his Attacks to deal bonus magic damage to nearby enemies.
Volibear gains speed towards enemies, Stunning and damaging the first one he Attacks
Volibear damages an enemy, applying on-hit effects and marking them. Casting this ability again on the same target deals bonus damage and Heals Volibear.
Volibear summons a lightning bolt at a location, dealing damage and slowing enemies while granting Volibear a Shield if he’s inside the blast radius.
Volibear leaps to a target location, Slowing and damaging enemies beneath him while gaining bonus Health. Enemy towers near his landing location become temporarily disabled.
Abilities Analysis
Innate Passive | The Relentless Storm
Every time Volibear hits an enemy with a basic attack or ability, he gets a stack of The Relentless Storm that lasts for 6 seconds. If he continues to damage enemies, the duration of the stack refreshes, and he can accumulate up to 5 stacks. Once he reaches 5 stacks, Volibear gains a power called Lightning Claws. Lightning Claws allows Volibear’s normal attacks to be empowered, chaining up to 4 subsequent targets.
Q | Thundering Smash
Volibear will enter a ghosted state and receive an increase in movement speed for 4 seconds. The movement speed bonus is doubled when he is facing an enemy champion within a certain range. During this time, Volibear’s next basic attack is empowered, pouncing on the target while dealing physical damage and stunning them for 1 second.
W | Frenzied Maul
Volibear attacks the target, deals physical damage and marks them Wounded for 8 seconds. Wounded enemies take an increased 50% more damage from the Frenzied Maul while also healing Volibear therefore making him a very effective bruiser champion by being tanky but also dealing tons of damage in the long run.
E | Sky Splitter
Volibear summons a lightning bolt, striking the ground in a circular area of effect with Magic damage after 2 seconds. When hit, enemies will slow down by 40% for 2 seconds. Volibear will then have a shield if he is within that area of effect, giving him a slight advantage when it comes to trading with his opponents. The casting range of this ability is also wide so it can be useful when you only want to poke the enemies down.
R | Stormbringer
Volibear leaps through the air and lands on a circular area of effect dealing physical damage and having slowed by 50% for 1 second with crowd control immunity. This is very effective when initiating team fights, counter-engaging the enemy, or diving an enemy tower as it disables enemy turrets when it hits. If you combo this with Sky Splitter, casting it beforehand then landing on it with the Stormbringer, enemies that are hit with both abilities will be at a much greater disadvantage.
Volibear Early Game Guide
Volibear’s early game strength lies in his ability to trade effectively. Focus on farming minions and looking for opportunities to engage the enemy laner. Using Thundering Smash for its movement speed, together with Sky Splitter’s slow to help close the gap quickly, followed by your Frenzied Maul for burst damage. Remember to auto-attack between abilities to maximize your damage output.
Volibear Late Game Guide
Volibear’s engaging abilities are great even for late-game team fights. Use your Stormbringer to effectively initiate a team fight. Your main focus would be zoning out the carry of the team fight by being a huge meat shield for your team and also occasionally stunning the enemies.
Synergies
For our Volibear Wild Rift Guide, we highly recommend using him with the following champions as they synergize well with him.
Vi’s Vault Breaker is very beneficial for Volibear when ganking his lane, the small knock-up and gap-closing ability helps a lot when ganking. Vi can then use her Cease and Desist when she is already close enough to the enemy. Her ultimate immobilizes the enemy, helping Volibear to catch up with his Thundering Smash. Additionally, Vi’s normal attacks inflict an armor reduction on the enemy which gives them an advantage when ganking.
Nautilus’ crowd control abilities benefit Volibear a lot especially his Dredge Line for its gap closing ability. Nautilus’ set ups for Volibear can easily turn into a kill
All Volibear Wild Rift Counter Champions
In this section, we’ll specifically show champions that can easily counter Volibear in Wild Rift.
Jax’s Counter Strike is very strong against Volibear. Volibear’s Thundering Smash is a normal attack, so you cannot be stunned when it first casts. Also, Jax’s mobility can’t be unnoticed. His Leap Strike helps a lot by closing the gap from Volibear but it can also help to escape from him.
Vayne’s Silver Bolt can shred Volibear’s health really quickly when opposing a great Vayne player. Volibear is at risk of being kited against ranged champions, especially ranged top laners.
