League of Legends Wild Rift – Ranked System

Rank games are the heart of all MOBAs. Most players spend most of their time playing rank queue games. Wild Rift’s rank and matchmaking system is showing to be a promising one.

Unlocking Rank Queue

After booting up the game for the first time, of course, you won’t be able to play rank queue from the get go. You’ll have to familiar yourself with the game first through normal PVP matches to reach level 10. Don’t worry. It won’t take long!

Tiers

  • Iron IV – III – II – I
    (2 Marks to Rank Up)
  • Bronze IV – III – II – I
    (3 Marks to Rank Up)
  • Silver IV – III – II – I
    (3 Marks to Rank Up)
  • Gold IV – III – II – I
( 4 Marks to Rank Up)
  • Platinum IV – III – II – I
    (4 Marks to Rank Up)
  •  Emerald (NEW) IV – III – II – I
    (5 Marks to Rank Up)
  • Diamond – Victory Points
  • (100 Points to Rank Up)
  • Master – Victory Points
  • Grand Master – Victory Points
  • Challenger – Victory Points

Placement Matches

After unlocking rank queue for the first time, you will have placement matches which grants you 2 marks for every win and no mark deduction for losses. It is possible to shoot yourself up straight to the Silver tier if you perform well in your placement matches.

Marks?

Marks functions like “stars” in other MOBAs.

The triangle around the rank emblem represents the mark and it gets filled up for every mark you earn.

You will have to fill up the marks in order to rank up.

  • Iron (IV, III, II, I) – requires 2 Marks for each division to rank up
  • Bronze (IV, III, II, I) – requires 3 Marks for each division to rank up
  • Silver (IV, III, II, I) – requires 3 Marks for each division to rank up
  • Gold (IV, III, II, I) – requires 4 Marks for each division to rank up
  • Platinum (IV, III, II, I) – requires 4 Marks for each division to rank up
  • Emerald (IV, III, II, I) – requires 5 Marks for each division to rank up

Ranked Fortitude

Your consistent, skilled play will always be recognized and rewarded regardless of wins or losses through the Ranked Fortitude system!

The numbers below your rank badge are the Fortitude points which you can earn through skilled play, maintaining win streaks, and continuing the game despite having an AFK player on your team.

The perks? Having half and full fortitude bar will be used up to protect you from losing your marks. And, a full fortitude bar will boost your wins by granting you 2 marks instead of one for the win!

Promotion Series

Promotion series is similar to League of Legends where players have three games to play to determine if they get promoted to another division or retain their current one.

  • Iron–Bronze: 2 wins = success! 3 losses = failure.
  • Silver–Diamond: 3 wins = success! 3 losses = failure.
  • Master–Challenger: No promos required!

Winning a Wild Rift Promotion series will bump the player to the next tier with some additional benefits like a bonus 1 Ranked Mark and a brief immunity from demotion while a Promotion failure will deduct 2 Ranked Marks from the player.

Fortitude points does not apply during a Promotional series.

Victory Points

Diamond players and above adopt a system closer to League of Legends PC, where they earn Victory Points (VP) similar to League Points (LP). The number of Victory Points a player earns or loses is “determined by a lot of factors” including skill levels shown during matches.

  • Diamond – requires 100 Victory Points for each division to rank up
  • Master
  • Grand Master
  • Challenger

Unlike Ranked Marks, Victory Points decay overtime.

The Master tier and beyond still make use of Victory Points, but the ranking system itself changes to accommodate this highly competitive level of play.

Queuing

There is only one ranked queue in Wild Rift. You can solo, duo, trio, and even 5-man queue in one single game mode. Wild Rift’s system will ensure quality and fairness in games by matching only 5-man queues with other 5-man queues and if not possible, will only match 5-man queues with trio and duo queues of higher ranks so match fairness will be upheld as much as possible.

“In the majority of cases teams will have the same comp, so: 1-1-1-1-1 vs 1-1-1-1-1; 2-2-1 vs 2-2-1; 3-2 vs 3-2; and so on,” said MartianSpider.

When playing with friends from different divisions, queuing with players that are within one Ranked tier is possible. Silver players can play with Bronze and Gold players, however, inviting and mixing a Bronze player with someone from Gold is not possible since they are more than one tier away from each other.

The matchmaking process that Wild Rift’s team describe is a promising one and with the expected large player base, it is sure to bring in lots of fair, competitive games.
